Welcome to the podcast Organized Money. You can listen to today’s episode on Apple on Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Google just lost a huge antitrust case—but somehow seems to have walked away the winner. In this emergency episode David and Matt explain how a federal judge ruled that Google is an illegal monopolist, then turned around and let the company keep the very deals that entrench its dominance. From billion-dollar payments to Apple, to the future of AI, they dig into what the ruling means, why critics on both the left and right are calling this a huge win for Big Tech, and what it tells us about the fight against monopoly power.

I am screaming in pain at this stupid, ridiculous, self-serving, scared, timid, fake, pretending, manipulative, disgusting Judge Mehta.
I dont find it funny. You guys said all the right things. I am too mad.
Its hard to compete in tech. It takes a lifetime of work and luck to compete.
When a player (Google) is cheating you do something about it or you screw everyone who plays by the rules.
Google is evil. They make more profits than any company in this world. They take money from every small and big company there is. They take that money illegally.
And to do nothing about this.
That's a sin.
Judge Mehta is here to uphold the rule of law and if he cant do that he should resign from the case.
He writes that he doesnt know search and doesnt know AI yet he decides AI will save the world from google's monopoly.
It was one of the most pathetic decisions I have ever read from a Judge.
I have never seen a Judge put him/herself down in a ruling.
And then resorting to this fake idea that if we wait long enough all monopolies will falter.
Well you know what.... Microsoft's monopoly is worth 10x what it was when the first Court fucked us and didnt break them up.
And no... Microsoft's monopoly trial didnt make Google possible. I really hate that argument. Its like saying Microsoft's monopoly trial made Tesla possible. It's a big fat lie.
Today Microsoft has monopolies in Desktop Operating Systems with Windows, in Information Technology Software with Office, and now they extended those monopolies into business communications with Microsoft Teams.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-04/microsoft-set-to-dodge-eu-fine-with-offer-to-unbundle-teams
Hey idiot regulators --- of course Microsoft will now agree to unbundle Teams from Office.... they already Won! Duh! Teams is used by everyone now. To use a Matt Stoller type analogy.... "thats like the bank robbers agreeing to give back to canva bags they used to hall the stolen money away with"
These regulators just dont get what is at stake and they dont know their ass from their elbow.
Useless.
And to say the DOJ may not appeal? Are you fucking kidding me?
Over the last 14 years I have gotten involved to support the antitrust movement and then I go away when some bullshit like this happens. Its just too depressing.
Will we ever have fair competition in business?
Imagine if this happened in sports contests.
This does suck!
