Emergency Pod: The Live Nation Ticketmaster Verdict
State AGs pick up the Fed's slack and win one for the fans.
Welcome to the podcast Organized Money. You can listen to today’s episode on Apple on Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Matt and David are live from a conference room in Chicago to break down the Live Nation Ticketmaster verdict! Live Nation was just found to be an illegal monopoly in a dramatic jury trial which saw the Trump administration drop out of the case with a surprise settlement. The states picked up the baton from there.
Matt and David cover the decision, the history of Ticketmaster’s tangles with Pearl Jam and the Justice Department, and how the current case played out, and what the decision means for the future of Ticketmaster, and the antitrust movement.

Thank you so much for listening. If there’s a monopoly you’d like us to explore this year, or if you have anything else to tell us, please let us know by leaving a comment or by responding directly to this email.

Great listen - love the history, albeit sad how long the grift has gone on...2 points I'd raise:
1) Ken Paxton? What a joke. I like in Texas. Sure - he may become the the AG for the Gov't - but that totally messes up the GOP Primary - where he's already raised more $. If that were going to happen they should have pulled him before it was to late to get off the ballot. And he's a total criminal - so there's that. And it would align. But why is this the first time I've heard this?? That's news.
2) No - the tech isn't good. It's not just for the biggest acts but all artists. When you buy tickets it's practically impossible to get the best seats. Even during a presale. Is it intentional? Where top seats are suctioned off for resellers? It's suspicious -- and the downfall of a monopoly -- it hurts the fans.
But what's a girl to do -- stop going to shows? Never!
