I just want to say what a GREAT book she wrote; I lived with someone for a while who fell into the Amway cult and it was positively spooky how effective the brainwashing was, and she described that, forty some years later, to a T. I put “Little Bosses Everywhere” up with Kurt Andersen’s “Fantasyland” and “Evil Geniuses” (and Stoller’s book) as essential to understanding where we are in America today. Can’t praise it enough.
If only I could find a writer who could weave antitrust with politics without the partisan slant. As far as I can tell BIG is a monopoly on antitrust writing. So sad.
This interview was great timing; I'm 1/2 way through the book. I like the discussion you all had about extractivism vs. producerism (or whatever Matt was arguing for) - solid points made throughout. I've been trying to answer the question "what is capitalism really anyway?" and this whole phenomenon is a real contribution to my thinking on that.
